This remarkable achievement underscores his dedication to upholding the rule of law and promoting diversity within our nation’s courts.
President Biden has nominated OMBA Co-Founder and President, Hon’ble Judge Mustafa Kasubhai (he/him) to serve as a United States District Court Judge for the District of Oregon. We applaud and welcome this well-deserved nomination.
Hon’ble Judge Kasubhai was born and raised in southern California. After graduating from UC Berkeley in 1992, he attended UO Law and received his J.D. in 1996. He was appointed to the federal bench in 2018, following 11 years of service as a Lane County Circuit Court Judge.
Prior to joining the state bench, Hon’ble Judge Kasubhai practiced plaintiff’s civil litigation throughout southern Oregon and served as a member of the Oregon Workers’ Compensation Board. He is the first Muslim American federal judge in the country.
Besides co-founding OMBA, Hon’ble Judge Kasubhai has also co-founded the Oregon South Asian Bar Association, and the Oregon Mediation Diversity Project. His exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to promoting a more diverse and representative legal community show that he is a true trailblazer!
